Uttarakhand cloudburst: 18 children killed in school roof collapse

Kapkot, UttarakhandAugust 18, 2010 19:58: A cloudburst has caused a school building to collapse in Kapkot, Uttarakhand, killing eighteen children. Few are still believed to be trapped under the debris.

It is not known as to how many children were in the school at the time of collapse.

The Sarsawati Sishu Mandir School building collapsed in incessant rain after a cloudburst in the area. Rescue operations are on.

Ambulances have been deployed. Communication is difficult as connectivity in the area is poor.
