PSBs to hire 63,200 persons this fiscal

Public sector banks (PSBs) will hire 63,200 persons in the current financial year, Finance Minister P. Chidambaram said on Thursday.

The country’s largest bank SBI will alone recruit 20,000 clerical staff and 1,200 officer level employees.

Besides, other public sector banks will hire 22,000 officers and 20,000 clerical staff in this fiscal.

“So there are many opportunities for the young men and women to build the career in banking. It’s a very attractive career and young men and women must take advantage that the banks are recruiting so many people,” Mr. Chidambaram told reporters after meeting heads of public sector banks and financial institutions here.

There were 84,489 vacancies at various levels in state-owned banks at the end of the last financial year. Most of these banks have undertaken recruitment drives in recent years. The public sector banks have a sanctioned strength of about 8 lakh employees as on March 31, 2012.

Nobel for quantum "parlor trick" that could make super computers

(Reuters) - A French and an American scientist won the Nobel Prize on Tuesday for finding ways to measure quantum particles without destroying them, which could make it possible to build a new kind of computer far more powerful than any seen before.

Serge Haroche of France and American David Wineland, both 68, found ways to manipulate the very smallest particles of matter and light to observe strange behavior that previously could only be imagined in equations and thought experiments.

Wineland has described his own work as a "parlor trick" that performed the seemingly magical feat of putting an object in two places at once. Other scientists praised the achievements as bringing to life the wildest dreams of science fiction.

The higher the number, the less the proximity.

Daniel Russell, who first wrote about the AROUND operator, says that AROUND is especially useful when the documents are rather long (think book-length articles) while a comment points out that it could be also be useful “when searching for quotes, speeches or a song that’s stuck in your head, but you can only think of a few words from it.”

FaceBook App Centre In India

Facebook has launched its application centre — App Center in India and six other countries, a move that will help users to find games, music services and media content easily.

The social networking giant had launched the App Center in the U.S. last month.

“The App Center is now available to everyone in the U.S., Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, and the U.K.,” Facebook software engineer Drew Hoskins said on the blog on Monday.

In addition, Facebook said that it will be launching App Center to users in Brazil, France, Germany, Russia, Spain, Taiwan, and Turkey in the coming weeks.

The launch is part of a plan to expand its reach to a large number of Facebook users, with 80 per cent residing outside the U.S. and Canada.

The users can access new App Center icon located on the left side of the home page on Facebook.com recommending apps to users based on their interests. Additionally, the service is also available on Apple and Android mobile devices.

“App Center makes it easier for people around the world to discover the best apps and games for them, wherever they are,” Mr. Hoskins added

At last China launched its first female Astronaut into space

China launched three astronauts into space Saturday (June 16), kicking off an ambitous test mission that marks the country's first attempt to dock a manned spaceship in orbit and its first flight of a female astronaut.

The Chinese astronauts rode into orbit aboard the Shenzhou 9 spacecraft, which lifted off atop a Long March 2F rocket from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in China's northern Gansu province at 6:37 p.m. local time (6:37 a.m. EDT; 1037 GMT).

If all goes according to plan, Shenzhou 9 will soon link up with the unmanned Tiangong 1 space lab, and China will become the third nation — after the United States and Russia — to perform a manned docking in Earth orbit.

The mission is considered a key step in China's ambitious space plans, which include the construction of a permanently staffed space station by 2020 and a manned moon landing sometime after that.

"The launch of the Shenzhou 9 is a highly influential event that marks an important milestone for the development of China's space technology," Cui Jijun, director of the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, said Wednesday (June 13), according to the nation's state-run Xinhua news agency. Once Shenzhou 9 reached orbit, cheers rang out at China's launch control center and Chang Wanquan, China's manned spaceflight program chief, declared the liftoff a success.

The Zodiac Killer is one of the great unsolved serial killer mysteries of all time, taking only second place to Jack the Ripper.

Even though police investigated over 2,500 potential suspects, the case was never officially solved. There were a few suspects that stood out, but the forensic technology of the times was not advanced enough to nail any one of them conclusively.

This October, 1966 killing began a ghoulish series of murders that panicked the people of the San Francisco area. For years the Zodiac taunted the police with weird ciphers, phone calls, insulting and cryptic messages.

Before it was all over, this clever and diabolical killer changed the lives of eight people, only two of whom lived to tell the tale.
