Libretto is one of the coolest looking devices to hit the market this year. It’s a dual-screen laptop (from the former king of laptops, Toshiba) that’s getting ready to take America by storm. But is the $1,100 price tag worth what Toshiba is offering?
Keep in mind that these Librettos are a limited run and may not stay on those digital store shelves for very long so if you really want one, go out and get it before you finish reading this.
There, now you’ve ordered, you want to know what you’re getting? How about a Pentium U5400 processor with integrated Intel graphics and 2GB of DDR3 RAM? It’s good for starters but dig a little deeper and you’ll appreciate the built-in 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth (Version 2.1).
You’ll also get a webcam and an 8-cell battery but those are kind of boring compared to the fact that the laptop has two screens!
The screens are identical 7 inch WSVGA LCD models and I have to say they look pretty snazzy. Still, the hardware specs are a little weak for nearly 12 grand. If you’re an early adopter and want to be the first one riding the wave of the future then it may be worth the price. I’m personally going to wait for the next generation—if it ever makes it out of development.
